John Hinkel as part of the Leadership Lexington project team “Vision Lex” receives Downtown Lexington Corporation’s 2013 Leadership Achievement Award. The awards were presented during the 2013 DLC Annual Meeting and Awards of Excellence hosted by the Downtown Lexington Corporation.
The team won for their enthusiastic efforts to lay the groundwork for a pedestrian wayfinding program in downtown Lexington. The Leadership Achievement Award is given to the business or organization which best exemplifies exceptional contribution to the business, civic or human vitality of Downtown Lexington.
According to Commerce Lexington’s website, “The goal of this project is to increase foot traffic in downtown Lexington by running a test program with way-finding signs throughout downtown.”
The group created a sample sign, collaborated with public entities, and worked with KU (the owners of poles where the signs would go). A formal presentation was made back in June to the full LFUCG Council and they received positive feedback and started fundraising for implementation of the project.
PROJECT MEMBERS: Group Leader – Andy Shea; Team – Di Boyer, John Hinkel, Ron Edmondson, Will Graham, Teddi Hibberd, Ashley Chatham, Alan Waddell, Sarah Sloan, Lance Mann, and Patrick Quirk.
