The Fowler Bell Family Announces the Loss of Our Beloved Guy R. Colson

It is with great sadness that our Fowler Bell Family announces the loss of our beloved Guy R. Colson. Guy was a kind soul who shed light and laughter on any room he walked into and was loved by so many. Fowler Bell PLLC will be closed Thursday, June 2, 2022, in order to attend Funeral Services. Guy Randall Colson passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on May 28, 2022. The only son of the late Calfee and Anna Dean Colson, Guy was born on December 7, 1947, and raised in Campbellsville, Kentucky. He was a loving family man and is survived by his wife, Margaret Bruce “Peggy,” and their three children, Erin Bookman (Robert) and their children, Brianna and Isabel; Christopher (Kelly) and their children, Sienna and Grady; and Lori Kruse (Scott) and their children, Colson and Remi. 

Guy graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1970 and served in the National Guard. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1974 and joined the law firm, now known as Fowler Bell, PLLC, where he practiced law for nearly 50 years. He received many distinguished awards over his career, including the Henry T. Duncan Award for outstanding contribution to the community in 2018 and Citizen Lawyer Award in 2009 for distinguished civic activity. Guy served as the President of the Kentucky Defense Council and on the Board of Directors of the Fayette County Legal Aid Society.

Guy was an active member and the Elder at Southland Christian Church where he served as Chair of the Board and Finance and Personnel Committees. Guy received Southland Christian’s Servant Leader Award in 2021 and enjoyed teaching his Sunday School class that he and Peggy attended for 47 years. Guy served as a Board member of Christian Benevolent Outreach, Inc., a retirement community which operates Sayre Christian Village. In his spare time, Guy enjoyed playing tennis and golf with friends. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 1st from 4 to 8 p.m. at Southland Christian Church, 5001 Harrodsburg, Rd. Nicholasville, KY 40356, Building B.

Services will be held at Southland Christian Church Building B on Thursday, June 2nd at 10:30 a.m. with a burial following at Lexington Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests gifts to Bluegrass Hospice Care or Southland Christian Church.
